Abstract

Determination of the corrosion inhibition of chromolaena odorata extract was carried out on mild steel at the different concentrations for 1M HCL and 0.5M H2SO4. The results show that the corrosion rate of mild steel increases with increasing temperature and decreases with an increase in the concentration of the extract. While the inhibitory effect of plant extract was more noticeable in 0.5M H2SO4than in 1M HCL even at higher concentrations. The observed trend in temperature and inhibition efficiency (1.E%) was because of the molecules of the extract absorbed on the surface of the mild steel as the concentrations increases.
