This study investigates the efficacy of integrating Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), specifically UiO-66, into traditional coagulation-flocculation-sedimentation (CFS) processes to enhance water clarification in turbid environments. UiO-66 MOFs were synthesized via the solvothermal method and characterized using FT-IR, SEM, and XRD techniques. Comparative evaluation was conducted between UiO-66 and natural coagulants such as sesame seed, and moringa seed commonly utilized in traditional treatments. The results demonstrate that UiO-66 exhibited exceptional turbidity removal efficiency (97%), with a pH of 8, temperature of 24°C, and color rating of 16, attributable to its large surface area and porosity. Furthermore, integration of UiO-66 with natural coagulants, particularly at a dosage of 15g/L:5g/L UiO-66/moringa seed, resulted in the highest percentage clearance (76%), with a pH of 7, color rating of 16, and temperature of 23°C. These findings underscore the potential of MOF integration in augmenting traditional water treatment methods for improved turbid water clarification.Downloads
