A study was carried out to evaluate the effect of natural fillers on the mechanical properties of virgin and waste low density polyethylene. Samples of disposable sachet bags were obtained and blended with varying percentages of polylactic acid, starch, charcoal and maleic anhydride (M.A) in a 2 roll-mill mixer and compression molded to form composites using the two-roll mix and the compression molding machine for compounding. Samples were molded and cut according to ASTM for tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness and impact strength. From the results obtained, incorporation of the natural fillers reduced the tensile strength for the virgin composites more than the waste composites, similar results were observed with the flexural strength, hardness compared to the control sample. However, impact strength improved with increase with natural fillers.Downloads
